The new Battery Regulation 2023/1542 applies and batteries must be CE marked

On July 28, 2023, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council of July 12, 2023 on batteries and waste batteries repealing Directive 2006/66/EC was published.

This is now binding from 18.02.2024!

It contains new requirements for sustainability, safety, labeling and information for the placing on the market and putting into service of batteries in the European Union.

Manufacturers or distributors must deal with new issues, such as the digital battery passport, removability and replaceability and CE marking; for machine and system manufacturers, this means ensuring that the batteries used meet the new requirements.

The regulation applies to all categories of batteries and accumulators, namely portable batteries, starter batteries, batteries for light vehicles (LV batteries), electric vehicle batteries and industrial batteries.

In addition to support for conformity assessments in the area of radio equipment, low voltage and EMC directives, we can now also offer our support for the new battery regulation and the associated CE marking of batteries.
